There was a power issue on 7/9 and then on 7/12 the UPS output power is turned off.
What would cause this?
Portion of the log -
07/12/2015 09:53:52 UPS: The output power is now turned on.
07/12/2015 09:53:47 UPS: The output power is turned off.
07/09/2015 00:22:02 UPS: A discharged battery condition no longer exists.
07/09/2015 00:22:01 UPS: The battery power is too low to support the load; if power fails, the UPS will be shut down immediately.

Hi Randy,
Yes, v6.2.1 AOS (Operating System) and v6.2.1 for sumx application (for Smart-UPS and & Matrix UPS types) are the latest available if you found that on the website. Be advised it will be a completely different web UI, etc but has a lot more features, bug fixes, etc and you'll get more out of it.

Hi,
Can you provide the full event.txt and data.txt? http://www.apc.com/support/index?page=content&country=ITB〈=en&locale=en_US&id=FA156131 provides instructions in retrieving the full logs.
Output power turned off means the UPS output power has turned off and you have no power at the outlets on the back of your UPS.
I see battery related events there so depending on how high your load is, how old your battery is, and how long the outage is, it could also mean you need a new battery soon - which may be a separate issue from why the output power turned off on the 12th.

Thank you for the reply.
the Battery events were from July 9 and cleared July 9. The Output power is turned off is the only event listed on July 12.

Hi Randy,
Can you attach the full files? We might find this happened previously in a similar sequence or we had a UPS fault some time ago. I am also interested to see what is in the data log around the same time on the 12th.

Hi Randy,
Ok, so you have 5.0.3 firmware I see which is really, really old and does not support the logzip command (which is used with v5.X.X or higher). Not part of your original question but when we're done, you may want to consider upgrading the Network Management Card firmware.
You'll want to follow the FTP instructions and connected via an FTP utility or through Windows command prompt FTP and retrieve the event.txt and data.txt files. Refer to the first section under Resolution called "File Transfer Protocol - All Network Management Cards or Web/SNMP Card" and follow those instructions.
Let me know if you still get stuck. Worst case, go to the web interface and go to Logs tab and choose "Launch Log in New Window" for both event and data logs and PDF what you get for me to view.

Ok, thanks - better than nothing 🙂
I see according to the date/time of January 2014, you had some battery issues and faults that cleared up - can you confirm to me if you replaced the batteries then or if the faults cleared up on their own and the battery was not replaced then? If not, do you know how old the battery in this UPS is? The manufacture date of the UPS is 2009 so if the original battery is still present, it'd be about 6 years old now and would make sense that you're receiving those types of messages in the log.

I'm not sure if the batteries were ever replaced, I looked through the history for this location and didn't find anything on the UPS. Would a battery issue cause the OUTPUT power to turn off at random times? According to my site contact, there have been no power issues (outages) since July 9.

This could be related to a battery. What happens if you run a self test now? There could be power blips happening so fast that the events being logged for 1 second or less outages or something may not be recorded beyond the output power turning on and off as you see in the log.
Furthermore, logging may be better if you consider updating the firmware on the Network Management Card itself.

Because of this note in FA167693 -
v5.0.X->v6.X.X upgrade path will cause a loss of TCP/IP settings. You can avoid this by going v5.0.X->v5.1.X->v6.X.X
I think I will just have the UPS replaced.
