Hi all,
I have just bought an APC SMT750IC UPS and my original goal was to have it connected and run 2 NAS boxes. The NAS I own are a QNAP TVS-951-X and an old Netgear ReadyNAS Ultra. The QNAP holds all my data and any critical data gets backed up to the Netgear NAS. My original goal was to have my UPS send the shutdown to both NAS in the event of power failure.
I have tried connecting the USB to the QNAP and enabling the Network UPS Master and putting the internal IP of the Netgear NAS in here. However, when testing this setup the QNAP powers off but the ReadyNAS remained on-line.
I tried connecting the USB to the Readynas and tried to set-up that up as the UPS master host but again that failed. The ReadyNAS shutdown but the QNAP stayed on-line
I have tried to put a USB HUB in the back of the UPS and connect both NAS but after a bit of reading I found out that USB hubs only have 1 upstream and it doesn't work
My ask is has anyone tried this setup of 1 up to 2 NAS boxes and got it working and if so what am I missing.
Thanks

So I have been back at this problem again today and I have been reading some more posts on other forums. I have tried to edit the upsmon.conf file on the Readynas box so the MONITOR line now reads:
MONITOR qnapups@
I have also modified the upsd.users on the readynas to look like the following:
[admin]
password = 123456
allowfrom =
upsmon slave
However, when I set up the QNAP as the UPS master and try to set the Readynas as the slave I still get the same error Could not connect to the specified UPS server. Please verify that UPS sharing is enabled on that system and try again.
