UPS is not powering off, after shutdown event

Dear All,

I have the next problem.

I have a licensed vmware ESXI 6.5. There i have installed virtual appliance PCNS.

Startup/Shutdown VM's is configured on esxi host

My Ups is : APC Smart Ups 2200(SMT2200RMI2U)

My NMC is -AP9630

I configured PCNS to power off snadalone esxi host.

I'll post screenshots below.

When the power is absent ups is working till it reach "Low battery duration"(it's 30 minutes in my case).

Than UPS send and information to PCNS, and it send a command to esxi to shutdown the host.

Than host shuts down, and VM's also are shutting down correctly, and that the host is also shuted down.

But the main problem is that UPS is not powering off after the host is down.  After the server is down the UPS Runtime Remaining changing to 1 hour. So if the power will be restored for this 1 hour, my server will not be switched on.

Please help me to fix it.

See the screenshots please:

Hi,

Not sure why the NMC is ignoring or not receiving the power down command but there is a work around. Assuming the ESXi host is plugged into the Main outlet group (Group 0) you can go to Outlet Group Settings for Main, select Load Shedding, Runtime remaining is less than and enter 1800 seconds, deselect Skip outlet off delay, set the Outlet off delay to the needed time ot power down the VMs and host, and select Apply. Example 2 minutes to power down VMs, 4 minutes to power down ESXi host, 2 minutes for VMs to restart, so set power down delay to 8 minutes. Also, changed the low battery duration to 20 minute to avoid any conflict.

When the UPS runtime remaining falls below 30 minutes the PowerChute client will be informed and the shutdown process will start. The outlet group will remain powered for 8 minutes (you may want to add an extra 2 minutes for safety) and then AC will be cut to all outlet groups. The NMC will remain powered up for an additional 9 minutes and then go off line. When AC is restored assuming you do not deselect Restart when power is restored or select Stay off after power return when AC is restored the outlet groups will be energized.

Hi,

Please provide the NMC config.ini file and the NMC event log. If the NMC is running firmware version 6.0 or above you can access the log by going to About - Support and select Generate Logs. Download them and attach to the post.

Hi,

The event log does not show that the NMC registered the power off command from PCNS. Up-grade the firmware on the NMC should resolve the issue. The lastest firmware can be downloaded from http://www.apc.com/us/en/tools/download/

Select Firmware Upgrades - UPS Network Management Card  The select SFSUMX650

Hi,

Sorry for the inconvenience. Did PowerChute record sending the shutdown signal to the NMC because the NMC is still not recording receiving the signal.

Question do you want all outlet groups to power down at the same time or staggered? As it stands now with your configuration they all should go off at the same time.

It's not important for me.

I have just one cable connected to UPS.

I just need the whole UPS to power down, after the Vmware Host is shutted down.
