UPS NMC2 SMTP 554 respond code???

Hi,

Recently i have installed an UPS with NMC2. SMTP has been configured and when i tried to send a test email, I received an error "SMTP configuration error".

Using wireshark to capture traffic between UPS and SMTP server, i notice that after smtp command "RCTP TO: emailaddress" is sent to SMTP server, SMTP server replies with a respond code 554: Relay rejected for policy reason.

Anyone encountered it before? Do you have any suggest solution?

Thanks.

ok, is this stuff actually accurate?

EmailServerName=SMTPserver@mydomain
EmailFromName=UPSname@mydomain
EmailReceiver1Address=user1@mydomain
EmailReceiver2Address=user2@mydomain
EmailReceiver3Address=user3@mydomain
EmailReceiver4Address=user4@mydomain

it seems very generic. i assume it us based on what you said but you might want to double check it. you will also wanted take a look at the bottom of this knowledgebase: http://nam-en.apc.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/7957

it refers to NMC2 and different firmwares.

lastly, we recently released a new firmware for Smart UPS or Symmetra single phase firmware - AOS 5.1.5 and sumx or sy 5.1.5. you may want to check out.

that sounds like an email server problem. you probably want to find out from your email administrator to make sure you are using the correct information within the NMC for your network. it sounds like it may not be correct and your SMTP server does not support/allow SMTP relay, based on the error message you are seeing.

if you want, please post your config.ini file following [these instructions|http://nam-en.apc.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/9321]. i really need only the NetworkEmail section of it if you'd like to delete everything else.

thanks.

Thanks for your reply.

The UPS i mentioned was installed at one of branch office. Firmware version is 5.1.3. All UPS at HQ site with older firmware version is able to send email with the same list of recipients. So i'm not sure if it is SMTP server configuration or not.

Following is NetworkEMAIL from config.ini:

[NetworkEMAIL]
; To change an E-mail Recipient's Password use the
; EmailReceiver#Password keyword where # is the number of the
; recipient. i.e., EmailReceiver1Password=password
EmailServerName=SMTPserver@mydomain

EmailReceiver1Address=user1@mydomain
EmailReceiver2Address=user2@mydomain
EmailReceiver3Address=user3@mydomain
EmailReceiver4Address=user4@mydomain
EmailReceiver1Route=Local
EmailReceiver2Route=Local
EmailReceiver3Route=Local
EmailReceiver4Route=Local
