Hello Everyone,
I have about 25+ UPS' in our system all used for critical communication infrastructure and I want your take on what the best software out there to manage all of these BEFORE failure. I was looking for something that tracks them in real-time as well as email/text/call outs. Maybe like a functional GUI that shows which ones are about to go bad, vitals of the batteries, which ones are on an outage, etc. Hopefully there is something like this out there already.
thanks,
Charles

Hi Dave,
Sorry if I was not clear. Yes, Data Center Expert uses SNMP communication between itself and the devices but it can also output other communication protocols/notification methods to the user if they do not want to use SNMP. That is why I mentioned it can aggregate data and send email notifications, output modbus, or you can forward traps to another SNMP trap receiver besides Data Center Expert itself if you wanted to.
If Data Center Expert is not good for one reason or another, using another SNMP management/monitoring tool is what I meant to suggest i.e. Nagios, IP Monitor, etc.

Our offering for this is StruxureWare Data Center Expert which comes in many varieties (virtual, hardware, different licenses) -> http://www.apc.com/products/family/index.cfm?id=350
It uses SNMP to talk to all of the devices itself but can send emails to you, forward SNMP traps, output Modbus - whatever you want. It can do APC devices or third party too. But ultimately, using something with SNMP might be your best bet to centrally manage everything and receive notifications.

Wait a minute - so Data Center Expert platform does not use SNMP at all ? Other than just forwarding ? I thought as the successor to the ISX manager it was all over that protocol....
