UPS Interface

Does anyone know how to communicate directly with the UPS to pull the status (online, onbatt...) of the UPS? I know there is apcupsd but I am interested in just pulling this information only.

APC's UPSs use a proprietary communication language - either UPSLink on older UPSs or Microlink on the newer UPSs, such as SMT and SMX Smart UPS.

It is possible to communicate directly with the older UPSs if you contact APC and get a non disclosure agreement on file with APC for access to this language (for UPSLink) only. it is not available for Microlink.
