Hello,
I have a situation where a SYPX 80KW to be running continuesly on a generator (1MW). Just want to know is it okay if I install it like normal installation or any additional precaution to be taken care?
I guess it is normal to connect the generator directly to the UPS since we always recommed this when there is a longer back up time requirement. But in this case SYPX is 100% on the generator only. Please comment.
Thanks
Bala

Hi Balaiyer,
There should be no problem or anything special that needs to be done. Just be sure you have 5 wire feeding the PX, neutral, ground and the 3 phases.
Depending on the generators output you may have to make adjustments to the PX to allow for fluctuations in frequency, but that will have to be adjusted after its been installed and is running.
Hopefully that answers the question for you π

To make it simple to understand, I have no mains or utility in this site. Hence the power source is just the generator and it runs 7x24.

I'm not sure I understand...
The generator is the only source of power for the UPS? What is the purpose of this? Will the UPS remain off when the generator is not on? Perhaps I am misunderstanding.
Typically you would wire the UPS input to a transfer switch of sorts. The switch would have two inputs (say, utility and generator). When power is lost, the generator would start up (while the UPS is carrying the load on battery). Once the generator is operational, the switch would be made from utility to generator power. The UPS would then come back online under generator power.
