We've a Symmetra PX 80kW that has come up with an alarm "A Static bypass switch module fault exists". I've noted that one of the fans on the Static bypass switch is not operating.
I understand the Static bypass switch module is not hot-swappable/serviceable.
The UPS is currently On-line. We've an External Maintenance bypass panel (EMBP) i.e Q3 in a 2nd cabinet. However, before i can use Q3 on the MBP the UPS has to be in bypass.
The problem is the UPS does not allow me to go into bypass via the front display. i.e Cannot Perform Function on the display
Is there a way to force the UPS into bypass thus allowing me to use the EMBP (Q3) to bypass the load so i can shut down the UPS to service the Static bypass switch?
An example of the event log below:
13-Jan-16 | 08:26:44 | UPS: A static bypass switch module fault no longer exists. |
13-Jan-16 | 08:26:02 | UPS: A static bypass switch module fault exists. |

13-Jan-16 | 08:25:19 | UPS: A static bypass switch module fault no longer exists. |
13-Jan-16 | 08:24:59 | UPS: A static bypass switch module fault exists. |
13-Jan-16 | 08:23:55 | UPS: A static bypass switch module fault exists. |
13-Jan-16 | 08:23:54 | UPS: A static bypass switch module fault no longer exists. |

Thanks,
Wayne

Depending on the fault, you could use the force to bypass switch located on the static switch at the front. Little red switch.
If not, you can open Q1 and replace the static switch whilst the UPS is on batteries. Check your run time and battery age before performing this.

Hi,
It could be a fan fault, but support would need the raw status data from the Intelligent modules. You can get that information from the display by going to Diags/Frame Status/Subsystems/Intelligence Module/Raw Status Data. This should tell what is the issue with the Static Switch. Once you have that information you should call local support for assistance.
