Strange chatter noice from SRC 2000 XLI CC

I bought the above UPS yesterday and observed these two things:-

1) whenever ups operated on batteries there is a chatter sound that comes for a few seconds and then it goes silent.

2) The voltage display from the battery charge LEDs during these of test mode is seemingly incorrect. It show 4 LEDs lit which means the voltage is above 248. The fans and other lights are operating normally rather dim and slow so that you can make out that the voltage is rather low and definitely not high.

This ups is a costly one and I am feeling like a fool to spend so much and buy something that operated like a locally assembled device. APC was all about quality but seems like not anymore :-((
