Standalone Smart-UPS 2000 RT & User Configurable Items
We have just inherited some Smart UPS 2000 RT units with external battery modules, I/O Alarm Interfaces and External Bypass Modules.
On previous similar setups I have used the PowerChute software to configure items like the Date of Last Battery change, Unit Position and Number of External Battery Packs.
Even though this newly inherited kit is several years old, doubt any of these parameters have ever been changed.
Was thinking, if you are not using a Network card or PowerChute interface - so just having the kit free-running - do you need to adjust any of these parameters?

Hi Richard -
Configuring the number of external batteries allows the UPS to properly estimate runtime for reporting. If you were using Powerchute or a Network Management Card this would be important to give you accurate runtime calculations. If you are just using the UPS by itself, it really doesn't matter. When the UPS is on battery the battery bar graph will count down from 5 LED's to 1 LED. If you don't configure external battery packs you will find that the UPS counts down to 1 LED quickly and then stays there for an extended period of time. The UPS will continue to run untill all batteries are exhausted as long as no shutdown software is confugured.
