Hi all,
I've a SmartUPS RT 3000 ad powerchute 9.01. I can connect to power unit
in Simple Mode on /dev/ttyS0 and to see in log "Connection Established"
The problem is that when I simulate power failure, the state of UPS
remain in "On line" and so no action go on !
It seems that PowerChute can see device but can't comunicate with
UPS .... and so can't recognize "power Failure"..
UPS model: SmartUPS RT3000
Serial Cable model (provided by APC): 940-1525A
OS: Linux RedHat enterprise 5
Thanks in advance,
Gianni

No, I've only 940-1524A : I don't know if it is different from 940-1524.
In any case w'll try with 940-0024 but we must wait ... we are looking on the web for buy it !
I'll inform you on the response of it .
Thanks for your interest !

when you installed PCBE, in what mode did you install it? did you have the software auto-detect your UPS? it seems like you somehow installed this within simple signaling mode and it should be in smart. do you see any status info within PCBE like input voltage or battery capacity?
can you tell us what you see when you login to the powerchute agent and click on server shutdown->system settings?

Hi,first of all
thanks for your answer.
Yes , I tried "smart" connection, but it didn't work at all: In this connection
mode PCBE didn't identify the UPS (it mark UPS as Unknown)
In attach you can find the screenshot of "System Setting" page.
We are thinking to change cable: in readme file they suggest 940-0024 or 940-0020
...but i'm not sure this fix the problem !
This is wath I've done after ...
American Power Conversion
PowerChute Business Edition Agent Configuration Utility

940-0024 is what you need or even 940-1524 (15 foot version).
we definitely need to be using smart signaling so somehow it is going to simple. so let's force it to smart and then make sure you do NOT use the 940-0020 because thats simple signaling only. do you have a 940-0024 or 940-1524 black cable? the 20 cable is gray.
