Hi everyone,
We have a SmartUPS 2200XL in our entreprise. I would like to programming my APC because for the moment is just like a battery.
I have tried to wire with a double RS232 my APC and my server together for the shutdown.
However, when I have tried that, my rack stopped and server were down.
I can't understand why just a cable make that ...
Have you an idea or a tutorial for a good practice for this SmartUPS please ?
Have a nice day and thank's a lot for your answer guys
Champs

Unfortunately, I am not sure I understand the question. the serial cable/port has a specific pinout where an APC serial cable must be used. a standard serial cable will cause a shutdown of the UPS most likely because of the special pinout. The APC 940-0024 or 940-1524 cable must be used with this UPS (assuming it is an SUA2200XLI or similar model).
what is the end result you're trying to achieve with working with the serial port? Are you trying to control the UPS via the serial port? If we understand what you're trying to do, then we can make a recommendation.
