Smart-UPS X 3000 shut down power output for no obvious reason

Hi

Our smart UPS shut down output completely for no obvious reason recently. Even if this was caused by external reasons (e.g. voltage drop) I do not see why the UPS switched off the power output instead off going on battery. The UPS is pretty new, battery is full and load is around 30%. Any idea why this could happen?

I have such an event occurred in November 2018 in the data center. UPS performed a 14-day self-test and disconnected the entire load (~ 40%).

Two weeks later, everything happened again. There are no events in the log. That's why I'm looking for answers here on the forum.

I see now. In our case there was a self-test 2 days before without any issues and there are log entries for this shutdown, but they just say "hey, everything is shutting down".

Power at the output of the main group of UPS sockets is already missing. A log captures the event of disconnecting group outlets after the fact, the algorithm for it is, unfortunately, without the feedback of the presence of AC.

The logs have the opportunity to see the state of charge of the battery for the previous period of time, perhaps the reason for them.

I think this is a component level, a relay.

I would like to hear a competent opinion of engineers.

Well, the log events right before that are self-test from 2 days before:

The data log is collected once per 10 minutes and it only has entries 5 minutes before and 5 minutes after the event. The battery is full and power is fine at that time:

To re-iterate:

• No other log entries whatsoever (power, battery, temperature, etc)
• Battery is full, load is low
• UPS switches off the output and only then switches to battery power

This kind of defeats the purpose of having a UPS.

There was a power throw.

I seriously doubt it. We had power issues in the last few months and they a) were properly logged, b) led to disabling input, not output and c) switched UPS to battery without interrupting the power supply.

In this case the UPS disabled the output without switching to the battery first. This is the opposite of what Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS for short) should do. The fact that power supply stopped for a few seconds is logged on all the devices connected to this UPS.

Again, why in the world would a UPS disconnect output sockets in case of input power problem instead of switching to the battery? The logs from the UPS itself, as well as from the connected devices clearly indicate that the UPS first disconnected the power output, then switched to the battery, and only after all of that re-enabled the output.

As I already mentioned, our UPS works just fine during selftest and it is a different model. Your problem is irrelevant here.
