Hi Everyone,
We have had a Smart UPS X 1500VA LCD model in our business for approximately 3 months.
After approx. 1 month the unit consistantly display's "Warning State: Battery OverVolt" errors on the front LCD display. It cycles between Load/Battery and this error, but gives no audible noises or other visual errors.
On battery load the error disappears and return's after the batteries are fully charged, but I dont know if the voltage is too high to trigger the error shown.
I have the network management card installed and have logged in and it shows the following errors.
1) Battery High Voltage Violation
The battery voltage exceeds the nominal battery voltage rating.
2) Battery Charger Fault
A battery charger fault exists.
A look at the battery voltages shows the following:-
Battery Status:-
Battery Capacity: 100.00 %
Battery Voltage: 50.68 VDC
Num of External Batteries: 0
Internal Temperature: 26.20°C
Runtime Remaining: 1hour 31min 43sec
Can anyone let me know whether this is faulty batteries or a faulty unit, faulty batteries or firmware problem, as the unit is under warranty and need to know how to proceed.
Regards
Aidan

It's going to be either faulty battery charger (in the UPS) or a faulty battery pack. You can check which one if you have a multimeter- disconnect the battery and measure DC voltage across the UPS-side battery connector (note: be careful not to short anything when doing this). It should read between 54 and 55 volts- if it doesn't, there's an issue with the charger and you'll need to contact tech support for a replacement. Hope that helps!

i'd probably contact tech support. the battery voltage on a system like this should float around 55.XX vDC and I am seeing yours at 50vDC which seems low if it reports 100% charged. if the faults are consistent or coming and going, something isnt right. sounds like a potential issue with the UPS charger.
