Hi,
I have a Smart-UPS 3000 RM. I replaced the battery today. Now the load lights flash and PowerChute shows the battery discharged.
Model # on back is SUA3000R2X145.
Searching has show me to use the serial console and type some commands to the unit to reload it. I have a 940-0024E cable but I cannot establish a connection to it via Putty when using the 2400/8/1/None/XON-XOFF and then SHIFT Y.
Will this cable not work with my unit?
Any ideas on what to do?

Do you have a network management card in the UPS? I've found that sometimes that can interfere with serial communication with the UPS itself.
Regarding the battery discharged indication, did you purchase the appropriate APC RBCxx part? If so, it should have a serial number which contains a date code. Usually xxYYxxxxxxxxx, where YY is the year of manufacture. I've received ones from authorized distributors which were sitting on a shelf for years and were discharged. If you purchased 3rd-party batteries, you may have missed a connection or mis-wired something when re-using the battery cables. You should see approximately 12 Volts from each battery (not the whole battery pack) if you check them with a meter. The total voltage of the battery pack depends on the UPS model, and could be 12V through 48V, or even 120V (on Symmetra battery packs).

Hi PokerMunkee, yes that cable should indeed work. I would try changing the flow control form XON/XOFF to none. Sometimes a UPS can get confused when a new battery is installed and needs to be recalibrated. If you are using software like powerchute business editon I would suggest running a battery Calibration to see if that fixes the issue. If not you can always run a manual calibration but putting at least a 30% load on the ups and forcing it to run on battery until the batteries are exhausted. This should allow the UPS to see how much runtime it has and clear that flashing graph. Hope this helps.
