Hello everybody,
is it possible to use a Smart-UPS SU420INet with Windows Server 2008 R2 x64? Has anybody tested it and can i use official apc software?
Thanks for answers!
Nils

as far as i know, this UPS still should work with powerchute business edition with the 940-0024 or 940-1524 APC serial cable.
here is the compatibility chart for PCBE -> http://www.apcmedia.com/salestools/ASTE-6Z5QEV_R27_EN.pdf

since that UPS is older, it was most likely not actually tested but should work just fine since that UPS is simple signaling.

Okey, there is no problem installing the UPS on Windows Server 2008 R2 x64 with PowerChute, but the Shutdown doesn't work π I think, it's a Configuration Problem, any ideas?

what is happening? can you show us your configuration via screenshot or similar? generally if you plug everything in and install the software, then by default, the graceful shutdown should begin when the UPS has a low battery (when 2 minutes of runtime is left).
did you connect the serial cable between the server and UPS? if so, whats the part number? it should be engraved on the connector.

I unplugged the power connector. The PC was runnig with battery power but didn't shutdown. I was not logged in as Administrator. When I logged in, the Shutdown starts immediately. After Restart I logged in once again and then the PC switched off immediately.
I thought, that the PC would shutdown after 3 minutes. Need PowerChute Administration-Rights or something like that? Are the Screenshots okey?
Sorry for my english...

hi - no problem.
i asked around and apparently not being logged in was the problem. when you log out of windows server, it stops all processes and this is what happened.
take a look at this link -> http://nam-en.apc.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/9045

Hm, I read the Knowledge entry, but are you shure, it's the right solution for my problem? They talk about the logon screen and when I logged of from the server, the "CTRL+ALT+DEL-Screen" appears. Shall I use "auto-login" for administrator?

yeah, i think you need to change it or leave it locked, but logged in and lock the screen?
also, on your configuration, are you running a command file? how long does your server take to shutdown?

Now i tested it and "autologin" was the solution. The server switched off after 4 minutes, as configured.
Thank you so much for your help!
