Pressing the on button causes the LED to light up for a split second (the fan kicks in momentarily as well) and then nothing
I have tried booting it with and without (cold booting) the power lead attached but the thing doesn't seem to want to play ball. I have not taken a panel out/off to check if a lead has become loose but I doubt this is the case because it had not been moved prior to it becoming problematic. Could the batteries be shot? The unit itself is 3 years old or thereabouts.

Okay.
I have a feeling this unit might be kaput then because other than it briefly fluttering to life upon turning it on, it turns off almost immediately. Any other ideas would be helpful before we consign it to the knackers.

Hi,
A SMX750 should turn on even if the battery is disconnected. You should check the input voltage to verify it is acceptable. If the battery is drained and the input voltage is not good the unit will not turn on. If the input voltage is good you should reset the UPS.
1) Turn off and unplug UPS from wall
2) Disconnect Battery
3) You may hear an audible "click" from the UPS.
4) Reconnect battery, plug unit back in the wall, and turn UPS back on

Hi.
Thanks for the reply. We have tried what you suggested and it's still a no go. When you said disconnect the battery would it also be worth unscrewing and sliding out the battery cradle aswell (if that's possible) as just taking out the plug?

Hi,
Just unplug the battery is sufficient.
