Smart-UPS RT 3000 XL: UPS: The battery voltage exceeds the nominal battery voltage rating.

We've had an unplanned poweroutage at one of our clients yesterday, using the Smart-UPS RT 3000 XL among others,

To date without any problems. Presumably (not verified) the power outage was resolved well in time for any trouble to be stirring up.

We've had this happen before without any big issues, but since the last power outage one of the UPS systems there, (the RT3000 XL) now seems to be having issues.

The event log states that:

UPS: The battery voltage exceeds the nominal battery voltage rating.

These are the current values mentioned:

Load in Watts Battery Capacity

0.00 %

96.54 %

Input Voltage: 221.89 VAC
Output Voltage: 230.46 VAC

Any Self-Tests reveal no problems whatsoever and the device has been rebooted once without any appliances connected.

Currently, our UPS expert is out of office and I kindly need assistance on this .

Any help would be much appreciated!

Data logs can be provided if necessary.

Greetings,

Erik

Hi Erik,

A few questions for you:

- What's the model and serial number of this UPS?

- Have the batteries been replaced at all and if so, did you use third party batteries or APC ones (if so, what's the serial number on them)?

- Do you have any external battery packs (and same as question before if they have been replaced)?

- When you say that you rebooted the device, did you do a "braindead"? (see this link)

Generally this sort of fault could be either battery or unit related, so I want to get all of the info to see if we can piece together which one it is. If you have an nmc, please provide the logs (see this link).

Thanks,

Tommy

Hi Tommy,

Thanks again. I've followed the provided instructions to perform a braindead and this resolved all issues.

Your quick response was very appreciated!

Regards,

Erik
