I have a Smart-UPS 1500 RM that will not turn off the outputs when the off button is pressed. The devices plugged into it stay on after the UPS indicates that it is off. All of the lights on the UPS turn off, but the devices stay on. If I remove the power from the UPS the devices will turn off, but they turn right back on once the UPS is plugged in again. The devices have no other means off power other than the UPS. What would cause this to happen and how can I fix it? It was been working fine for quite awhile and then just started doing this.

I am not using any smart slot or software with this UPS.
If I turn off the UPS the load stills stays on. If I then unplug the UPS from the wall the load turns off. The load turns back on I plug the UPS back into the wall.
This is not the first UPS that I have had fail in this way. I don't believe I am doing anything abnormal.
What would cause this to happen? I have two computers and a monitor plugged into it.

well to begin, i cant personally recommend using the UPS's on/off switch as a master power switch just because its not recommended to do so. i'd have to assume that there is an output relay that is damaged somewhere that is not closing and still continuing to pass power.
i'd have to say to look into a replacement/repair as APC cannot suggest opening the UPS and poking around in there. there is no way to fix it without opening it at this point 😞

this must be an international unit of SUA1500RMI2U (where it is an i in the part number versus the number one).
are you using any software/smart slot accessories with this that you can still access when the UPS is turned off but still passing power?
also, what happens to the load if you unplug the UPS from the wall when the UPS is off but still passing power? I assume it just turns off.
i will follow up with any more details i find out on this issue on monday when i can investigate further to get an actual cause but i dont think it is something you can fix without actually repairing it somehow (which I cant recommend that you actually do) but if its out of warranty, you can certainly do what ever you'd like.
ill post back after investigation though.
