Smart UPS 750 - home user questions

Hello guys, I'm having some questions about my new ups.

1. Is there a way to monitor the battery status in real time?
I can see it in PowerChute Console - Device - Properties OR when accessing the Agent directly with a browser, but its only the current value and doesn't change without some sort of refresh.

2. Can I stop the rotation of all screens in the UPS unit LCD panel?
I really need only one of the screens when power is on and another when power is off. So I would love to change them manually.

3. I'm having troubles with the Console interface -> screenshot: http://i.imgur.com/lGEa3.png
First the Power Failure screen is messed up, so I can't really configure anything there.
Also there are links all around Device properties (like the blue here in my screen shot) that spawn a new window that is never working.
Is there a fix for this?

I'm using PowerChute 9.0.1 on Windows 7, UPS is connected over USB.

I don't see the content of this window, when I click here - just a navigation error (see the screenshot in my first post)

Can you also check and make sure that java scripting is enabled in internet options? Are the components of Powerchute all in the same version?

When I login to Agent's web interface, I can see the page from your screenshot and all others you listed. And everything is working fine in Agent interface.

Java scripting is enabled in Internet Options.

I've downloaded PBE directly from APC website. The version is reported 9.0.1.606
And this is the first time I install PBE.

Can you please post a screenshot of how should the Power Failure screen look normally?

When you log in to the agent's web interface, do you see Outlet Configuration in the left navigation panel? The options that you'll see after clicking that is the same with what you'll see in the Power Failure screen.!http://www.apc-forums.com/servlet/JiveServlet/download/25-8454-37754-2478/$D2C423F77F44CF3.jpg!

You can check my previous screenshots - in Power Failure (Client) I see:

"When power fails, begin a shutdown procedure:
- Immediately
- After UPS has been on battery for"

And that's it. I don't see the rest.
Those options are not available Outlet Configuration (Agent)

Clicking here in the "When power returns" !http://www.apc-forums.com/servlet/JiveServlet/download/25-8454-37756-2482/$D2C423F77F44CF3.jpg! window should show you the Outlet Sequence page (same window that you should see in the web interface). I can't seem to figure out why you don't have those options in the web interface. Can you send me a screenshot of what's on the left navigation panel after you log in? Attached to this post is the image of what the Outlet Sequence page looks like.

I'm not talking about clicking on this "here". I already understood what's there from a previous reply of yours - you got a picture and I figured it out.
And I already confirmed, that in Agent everything is ok, and all options are there. I don't know why you think it's not ok.

The problem is with the Client. And it's about the screenshot you have cropped in your last post. You can find it again on the bottom of this reply.
As you can see there are two text boxes that are overlapping. The first one is under the second one. The first one has the title "When power fails, begin a shutdown procedure" and the second box has a title "When power returns:". I'm no GUI expert, and I'm not sure those elements are called usually, so I call them text boxes.
I'd like to know how the the first text box should look like, when it's not obstructed by the second box.

Please post a screenshot of exactly this window, when everything is in correct position.

What version of Internet explorer do you have? If it's 6, try to upgrade it to 7 or higher.

My Internet Explorer version is 9 (as mentioned in post 5). You can't have IE6 or 7 with Windows 7 (post 1).

1. Unfortunately, none of our software has an auto refresh or offers real time updated battery start.
2. I'm not sure what you mean by rotation. If you could explain how you like it to look, I can let know if/how to make that happen
3. Looking at your screenshot, it's hard to tell but if you click on the options(such as summary, UPS status, outlet status etc), do you see the correct info?

Which smart ups 750 do you have? There should be a white sticker on the back. It may start with SUA or SMT etc

The proper model is SMT750I. SUA-model has no LCD panel on the unit.
And that's the LCD I had in mind in my second question. By "rotation" I meant that it's currently changing in endless loop (rotating) 5 different screens with information: green efficiency, input/output voltage, load W / % / A / VA, battery % + runtime and last transfer. Although I like that there's a lot of information provided, I prefer to have only one of the screens showing most of the time and manually switch to the others in case I need them.

About the Device Properties screen: yes, all other options are ok. Only the Power Failure submenu is not displayed correctly.
A separate problem in Device Properties are that all links are not working, like General - Outlet Status - Outlet Group Status, Energy Management - Energy Management - Energy Usage, Outlet Configuration - Outlet Configuration - Outlet Setup / Outlet Sequence / Outlet Control / Load Shedding, etc.
If you have the software, you can see what I mean. Otherwise I can provide more screenshots.
Sorry for my bad English - it's not my native.

Hello Niksus,

You can change the Menu Type from Advanced to Standard, go to Configuration in the LCD Menu hit enter then Menu Type. About the problems with displaying the Outlet Setup, Outlet Group Status, etc. It probably has something to do with the browser PCBE opens, you can try setting a different browser as your default or you can just login to the agent's web interface and configure the outlet groups from there.

Thanks for the Menu Type hint. I did noticed it earlier, but haven't considered it.
So the choice is between the shortcoming of the simpler mode and the abundance of information. I'll maybe stick with Advanced after all.

Changing default browser didn't help with those empty option pages. By default I use Chrome, but the error is actually Internet Explorer error page. So no matter what is my default browser, PCBE uses my IE9.
Nevertheless I've switched back and forth defaulting both browsers, but there was no change at all.

Are you sure that options from Power Failure in Client are available in Agent's web interface?
I can't find them, and what's more, it looks to me that there are many more options in Client in general, than in Agent.

Hello Niksus,

Can you try to update java to the latest version to see if that helps, and kindly paste a screenshot of what is shown when you click on Power Failure.

Can you try to login to the PBE agent's web interface and see if you can open the Outlet Configuration (Outlet Setup, Sequence, Control, Load Shedding)? That page has the same options as the window that you're having problems with. I just want to check if it will display correctly in your web browser.
