Hello,
We have a Smart UPS 700 connected to our Windows 2008 SBS x64 server , HP Switch and Cisco Router.
On the server is PowerShute Business Edition 8.0 installed , as we don't have the CD anymore we downloaded it.
The UPS is via Serial cable connected to the server.
We now want to use SNMP Monitoring to get messages in case of problems.
But it seems there is no SNMP IOD for APC Smart UPS available on the server anymore.
Previously the Smart UPS 700 was connected to a Windows 2003 x86 server. The UPS was monitored using snmp checks and checks where all ok. There was some APC Software installed , don't know which software.
Did we miss something in the new PS BE software (SNMP Agent ?) Or will it never be able to monitor the UPS via SNMP anymore ?

Peter,
Have you tried loading our APC MiB into your Nagios system?

Hello AxoftIT,
Did you install PCBE Agent on your computer? Do you have the SNMP service running on your Windows 2008 machine? Also, if you are looking for APC OIDs you can load this MiB file on your MiB browser to find out what OIDs you need. Please see the link to the MiB file below:
[APC MiB File Download Page|http://www.apc.com/tools/download/index.cfm]
Once you are on the APC Software download page please select Firmware Upgrades - MIB under the Filter By Software / Firmware drop down box and then hit submit. The page will then give you a list of the current MiBs that we have, I suggest that you download the latest one which is 3.9.8

Hello,
Thanks for the replies.
We did install the PS BE Agent (This was the only option to install) on the W2k8 server. We haven't installed any agent on the client computer as it is not needed there.
On the W2k8 we firstenabled snmp and configured it as mentioned , then we installed PS BE Agent.
The NMS (Network Monitor Software ??) we use is Nagios. We can query the server through SNMP as the server returns its own settings (like uptime , network stats etc). However browsing the SNMP with snmpwalk doesn't show any of the OID's used by APC UPS.
I guess we still miss something , maybe a reboot is needed for the server ?
Will have a look at the software which was installed on the old server tomorrow.
Peter
