We are going to replace our UNS1000, serial no. XS9847001576 and want to up the capacity to at least 1500, and maybe 2200 or 3000. This is for a home office/small business application.
Would there be any advantage in buying a UPS that's been made in the last few years as opposed to one that's say 10 years old? Have there been hardware/software advances recently that would be beneficial for a small operation like ours?
Are there any models to stay away from?
Thanks.

Newer UPS models are compatible with more accessory devices and software monitoring applications, and generally have more capabilities in terms of reporting potential issues or alerts. Newer UPS' also have more functionality in terms of "green" power saving ability (turning off outlets, high efficiency, etc.). New UPS systems also have better charging and battery management ability, which maximizes battery runtime potential and cuts down on battery temperature issues (an issue with older UPS') when your battery gets old. Newer UPS systems also always come with a warranty when purchased new, as opposed to a used or refurbed older unit.
