Hi all, N00b here.
I have 2x SmartUPS 5000 approx 8 years old.
After a recent power down one of the units would not boot up. Lights flash once, the unit clicks (sounds like an internal relay) and then nothing. Press the off button once and it clicks again.
I purchased brand new batteries for the unit and installed them. Same result, Lights flash once, click and nothing.
Ive tried holding down the power button - it results in one short beep, still no lights on the display.
Any suggestions?
Thanks, Garry.

For anyone checking this thread in the future (Hi future human!) I replaced the UPS rather than try to troubleshoot an old one.
When the UPS was replaced I actually did test to see if disconnecting the power and reconnecting would bring it back up - it didnt. the unit had died.

Hi Garry,
Do you have the exact model and serial number of the unit (often located on the back of the unit on a white sticker) for reference?
I would recommend a procedure called a braindead:
1)Unplug the unit from the wall
2)Unplug any load on the unit
3)Disconnect all batteries
4)Hold down the off button for about 20 seconds
5)Reconnect everything and attempt to turn it on
If that does not work and you have purchased the correct new batteries for the unit without any results, the unit may need to be replaced.

Hi Jordon, thanks for the response.
Model: DL5000RMI5U
SN: AS0202160303
The unit's power is hard wired. I'll need to get a sparky in to disconnect it and give it a try before spending the $$$ to replace it.
Thanks for any assistance,
Garry.

You don't need to "disconnect" the unit, just turn off the supply circuit. There may even be a switch in the area arount the UPS. Otherwise, just turn off the circuit breaker that supplies that unit.
Cheers,
