Blade Server Power Requirements vs APC Symetra whip/breaker availability?

Given the IBM and HP blade chassis reqirements for two 60amp circuits, what is APC offering to meet these needs within the Symetra 40k and 80k product lines? The designer tool drop-down list of breaker/plug combinations lists 30 amp and 50 amp but no 60 amp breaker. Also, the IBM 60 amp three phase PDU for the Blade Center H uses IEC60309 3P+G. This is not offered as a whip end.

Currently, I am just telling my customer's to purchase the symetra and have an electrician mount the breakers and plug ends. Is this what I need to keep doing? Given the mainstreaming of blade technology and the confusion over power, I would think APC would be all over it but I am not getting that warm and fuzzy feeling!

Here are the power cable options for the current IBM BladeCenter H chassis:

BladeCenter H Double 30A NEMA L6-30P (208V) 4.3M 25R5783
BladeCenter H Dual 32A IEC 309 P+N+G/16A IEC 320-C20 (230V) 4.3M25R5784
BladeCenter H Triple 16A IEC 320-C20 (200-240V) 2.8M 25R5785
BladeCenter H Double 30A KSC 8305 (220V) 4.3M (Korea) 25R5811
BladeCenter H Dual 32A AS/NZS 3112/16A IEC320-C20 (ANZ) 25R5812

BladeCenter H can have up to four 2900W power supplies. Comes standard with two.

For full use of all 14 blade slots, all four power supplies must be installed. This requires two power connections to be made to the chassis. The above cables are for two supplies, so you need to double that for full use of BladeCenter H

Hello Tim,

Currently, there is not an option for these power requirements. What you are recommending now will work, and may be the best current solution. We do know about the issues with Blade power requirements and are working on updating the Build-Out tool.

Thanks.
