Smart UPS 5000 Failure - four LEDs are blinking

Hello

we have a SmartUPS 5000 with problems today. four led's on the front are blinking und a sound is playing.

the four leds are:

- smarttrim
- smartboost
- on battery
- replace battery

the on-led is durable green
the unit is out of warranty..
the batteries are 2-3 months old and we have checked them today (optical, they look like ok). whe have checked the fuse, looks like ok.

any ideas about this behavouir?

thanks for your support

warmstart is a reboot of the NMC. if it had seen network traffic at some point, like you had it plugged in, but now its not, it will warmstart to try to fix the network issue. so that is expected.

can you post the event.txt and data.txt via these instructions -> http://nam-en.apc.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/9321

thanks!!

hi andreas,

what does the tone sound like? is the load bar graph on the left is not flashing? do you have any software monitoring this? or a network management card?

is the UPS still providing power?

what does the tone sound like?
a short peep every x secends, parallel to the flashing led's.
is the load bar graph on the left is not flashing?
no, is not blinking.
actually there are six cisco switches on the usv, the bar shows no load.
do you have any software monitoring this? or a network management card?
there is a network management card installed, but acutal no software on a pc. the only fast posibility would be serial connection the the device.
is the UPS still providing power?
yes, still providing power

thanks for your help.
andreas

well, if you can get the APC specific serial cable, 940-0024 or 940-1524, i think a serial hook up to check and see whats going on may be a good idea.

if we don't get anything from that, i may suggest a braindead of the UPS, which would require removing the load from the UPS but could do a reset on it.

ok, the log shows really often the message "warmstart "(could be an errof of the network card, because acutal there is no network connectd).

Selftest looks like ok (Passed internal self-test). calibration test (don't know exactly what it does) failse. etherthing else looks like normal, 10% Load etc...

Kind regards
Andreas
