Smart-UPS 3000 RM: Discharged Battery

Hello everybody.

We have a problem with the UPS 3000

We have had an alarm with "Discharged battery".
We replace the battery by a new one.

But still the same problem:
"Discharged Battery
The battery power is too low to support the load; if power fails, the UPS will be shut down immediately. "

I tried to run the Runtime Calibration, the UPS Self Test, update the firmware of the UPS... But still the same error.

I have found on the forum a "solution". And tried to:
1. Turn off the service APC.
2. Disconect the Serial cable.
3. Discharge the battery with a load of 35%
4. Recharge the battery for 2 days
5. Run the calibration.

But still the same error message.

Here you can find the status:
Quick Status

Load in Watts 35.7 %

Battery Capacity 100.0 %

Input Voltage: 233.2 VAC
Output Voltage: 233.2 VAC

Can somebody help me, pleae?

I might suggest doing a calibration manually if the software won't allow it (remove any serial USB/cables and make sure you have at least 30% load and doesn't fluctuate more than +/- 5% and let it discharge until it turns off and charge up). We can't give the instructions out to reset via hyperterminal/terminal (which was never "official") on here again as the policy has changed unfortunately.

Please refer to my previous posts that indicate we cannot give out any "instructions" beyond trying a runtime calibration. If that does not work, local technical support can provide further instructions. This also assumes your load did not change or any settings did not change. Discharged battery is not always "erroneous" can be reported for legitimate things like [incorrect] settings.

I am experiencing the same problem with a Smart-UPS 1500 model number SUA1500, serial number AS0818131119. The batteries work properly in another UPS of the same model. I would appreciate any assistance you can provide. Thanks in advance.

Can you more specific on the issue? Discharged battery can be caused by configuration settings.

have you tried a software calibration yet (assuming this UPS has new batteries)?

Following a full set new batteries last week 2 of our Smart UPS 5000 RM XL are showing 100% battery capacity but 0 mins runtime and Battery Discharged.

After a self test the capacity immediately goes to 1 or 2%.  Cannot run a calibration from PCBE due to the low battery status.

I left them on charge over the weekend but the problem still exists.

I understand that a manual calibration may fix this problem

Model SU5000RMXL 5U with SU48RMXLBP3U additonal battery pack

Model SU5000RMXL 5U with SU48R3XLBP additional battery pack

Please can you forward the instructions for a manual calibration for these units.

Thanks.

I can go there tomorrow or may be on friday.

your runtime remaining is showing 0 minutes so that is what your issue is here. but it shouldn't be since your load is relatively low. how long did the UPS run on battery for when you did the aforementioned procedure?

do you know if it is black or beige in color? how many U space does it use? i can maybe piece together the model number using that since we have several 3000 VA units. we would need hyperterminal set up for this procedure that i'd like to run through.

based on what you provided so far, i am guessing it is an [SUA3000RMI2U|http://www.apc.com/resource/include/techspec_index.cfm?base_sku=SUA3000RMI2U]? but i cant tell if it is an XL model or not - not sure if the regulars report 0 external batts even if they don't support them (i think they do based on my unit i have here).

It's a 2U model.
But not really that what you send as link.
I have a LAN cable too, that I can connect on it.
Another LAN -USB and a serial COM too.
But the front is the same (but with Smart UPS 3000 written, not 2200) 😃

I will be there on friday in the morning (GMT +1 time).
When you can be online?

well, i can send you the instructions so you will have them for when you go but the model number is the most important value since it is different for each UPS. is there any way someone can check the UPS label before you go out there so i can send the instructions for the right model number?

i think on the website they just re-used the picture for the 2200 for the 3000 as well. so if the rest is the same and based on what you said (as long as the unit is indeed black), we will go with SUA3000RMI2U - worst case you can just note what the value is and then change it back later if we find it is a different model number.

Hello,

i have today switched batteries for the APC SMART-UPS 3000RM. I am not sure but i think 10 minutes within a load of 9 % is too low. I have ordered the RBC-12 Batterypack and made a calibration of the batteries. Is there another heck to get 30 minutes back???

TIA

Smart-UPS 3000 RM
Firmware Revision: 92.11.I
Manufacture Date: 08/23/00
Serial Number: GS0035004752

Could I have instructions too?

We have replaced batteries in two UPS 3000 and both them now continuously send emails "too low on power". They have run a calibration test.

Types:

APC UPS Smart-UPS 3000 RM (SUA3000RMI2U)

APC Smart-UPS 3000 XLM (SUM3000RMXLI2U)

If a manual calibration does not work as described above after replacing batteries, you'll need to contact your local technical support for further instructions and tell them it did not work. Keep in mind, if your batteries are not new, you should not be doing the manual calibration. It may be time for new batteries or you may have a setting generating this message.

The battery power is too low to support the load; if power fails, the UPS will be shut down immediately.

Runtime remaining 2 mn with 65 % charge.

I need help to solve this issue
