Hi,
PowerChute Business Edition is not supported on VMware vMA communicating with UPS over USB. Is is supported communicating with the UPS over serial. PowerChute Business Edition Agent is supported on VMware vMA. It can be access using the web interface or through the PowerChute Server and Console but the Server and Console need to be installed on Windows OS. The Server and Console will not install on VMware vMA.
You need to install VMware vMA and configure it with a serial port. Then install the PowerChute Agent on the vMA.
We offer a few FAQs on this subject
FA165747 How to install PowerChute Business Edition version 9.1.x and 9.2 on VMware vMA 5.0, 5.1, 5.5, or 6.x
FA166093 How to upload - copy PowerChute Business Edition installation file from PC to VMware vMA
FA159688 Configure virtual machine shutdown on standalone VMware ESX and ESXi hosts protected by PowerChute.
I suggest downloading PowerChute Business Edition version 9.2.1 from this link FA304446

Hi,
Thanks for the reply.
So I plugged in cable with RJ45 at the 1st end to my UPS, and another end which is serial to my VMware ESXi server, and configured the VMA settings as provided by the URL link earlier:
and followed by installing the Linux Powerchute Business Edition Agent inside the VMA.
I tried both DB9 and RJ45 during installation and seems like both not working, when I browse my VMA web interface at https://
Any idea on what's missing from my end?
Thank you.
Best regards,
Kong

Hi support,
OK now my VMware ESXi host is able to communicate with my UPS, but another weird thing:
1) Once my PowerChute agent service is up in my vMA, maybe around 2-3 minutes, my ESXi host will be auto shutdown. If I power off my vMA, it won't shutdown again. Is there any misconfiguration from vMA? I'm unable to do the troubleshooting as it will shutdown everytime I want to login to vMA web interface and check on what's going on. I can see that my vMA status "On battery" before it goes shutdown.
