Smart UPS 2200 - Management Console via Virtual Server

Hi all,

I'm new on this forum and have searched for answers on this forum, but I couldn't find the answers I was hoping on.

We are rebuilding our server infra with virtual servers, but having some issues with the management software of the UPS.

On 1 location we have 1 Esxi client running (Free, without License) with two Virtual Machines: Domain Controller and File Server. Both VM's are running SRV2012 R2.

The UPS is having a network card and is connected to our network and configured correctly. Our idea was to install the management software on the DC and FS, and connect over TCP/IP. For some reason it is not working, and we can't get the management software running. We have in all our server-racks the Smart UPS 2200 with the LAN option.

1. Does anyone have a simular setup with a working solution?
2. anyone ideas to get management software installed for a proper shutdown of the clients when the power is down?

I hope to use your knowledge and skills to resolve our issue.

all ideas or comments are more than welcome!

Which management software are you installing PowerChute Network Shutdown, PowerChute Business Edition, APCUPSD? Also, What is SRV2012 R2? Is it Windows Server 2012 R2? 

We do not officially support either versions of PowerChute on the free version of ESXi. There are methods to get shutdown via PowerChute to work but again they are not officially supported.

Hi,

I have tried 'PowerChute Network Shutdown' which I have downloaded from the APC website.

The OS is indeed Windows server 2012 R2

- Can you share the methods with me please to get this working?
