How are XL battery packs counted?
I recently came into a cast off Smart-UPS 1000 XL, and some time later, managed to track down a few SUA24XLBP battery boxes to go with it. (These seem to be a lot harder to find, especially at a hobbyist's price point! * )
This is my first time working with an extended run capable Smart-UPS model. I see that there is a parameter available to tell the UPS how many battery packs are attached, but I don't know how I should count them!
Would I tell the UPS that I have two SUA24XLBP units attached, or does it want an actual count of the batteries (eight total across the two enclosures)?
* No offense is meant by my selection of the icon. I simply found it too amusing to pass up.

Hi William,
For these Smart-UPS, each SUA24XLBP is (1) External Battery. So you should write in (2) for external batteries.
Smart-UPS RTs (SURT) work a little differently though. Depending on the model of those, the internal batteries count as an external battery pack too. The user's guide for those mentions the value it should be.
So, for most UPSs, one XLBP SKU = one external battery pack but there are a few exceptions to that rule, like SURT models - which are being phased out by SRT models.
