Hi, I am using smart ups 1500 to backup windows 7 computer. I have connected the ups using usb cable. Windows detects the ups in control panel and i can see apc batteries and american power conversion usb ups under human interface devices. However, powerchute web client is not finding the ups. I am using powerchute bussiness ed. There is unknown ups model in webclient and software fails to communicate with hardware. When I uninstall powerchute, windows default power management can see the ups status and charging/on battery etc. I have tried restarting computer and ups but nothing worked. Help will be appreciated.

Hi,
BR1500 is not compatible with PowerChute Business Edition. Your software options on Windows OS are PowerChute Personal Edition, APCUPSD, or configure the power options in the control panel.

I have a similar model (Smart UPS RS 1500) and I experience the same thing. The web interface of PowerChute 9.2 says "Unknown UPS model", the "Device List Configuration" in the Windows Console says "Failed to apply the configuration profile to SERVER".
Windows Server 2012 R2 also does not see the UPS in power management after I install PowerChute, and since PowerChute does not recognize the unit either, I'm hesitant to leave it installed.
Did you ever figure out how to solve this problem?

I have the same problem as OP. The model number on my unit is BR1500LCDI or BR1500LCD1 (not sure of the last character). I detail the problem a little in my reply to OP. Ideas?
