Smart-UPS 1000 replace battery problem (on newish battery)
A little while ago this unit was moved to another location, when we went to put it back online, we got the replace battery light. So, we ordered new batteries, problem gone.
Today, I was cleaning up the rack and took the unit offline for a while. When I went to plug it back in, this error came back up. Now these batteries are not even a year old, they are not swelling and the fuse on the batteries are not blown. If I unplug the unit, and plug it back on it wont turn on at all. I have to disconnect the battery plug on the back, and plug it back in then connect power to get the unit on. I went through this a couple of times, changing different outlets to see if that was the problem.
Finally, the last time I plugged it in nothing happened. Instead of unplugging the battery plug on the rear of the unit, I gave the unit a slight tap on the front, and it turned on. Not only that, I am not getting any battery errors. I even went so far as to unplug the unit from power, and it went straight to battery supplying the load I had hooked up.
This slight tap that I gave would of only effected the main control board on the front, so what gives?
I am about to install the software on my server to see whats going on, but I have a feeling all it will tell me is what I saw before a couple of months ago originally, replace the battery.
