Smart-UPS 1000 firmware upgrade - ID14 no longer in archives?

I've got a UPS and smartslot card for a UPS that I've just put a new battery into.  The UPS is not currently usable, because the fan continues to be on (with brief stops) and in my office this is too loud for use. I found that someone on Amazon (1) mentions that a firmware upgrade fixes this fan issue- so... good news, but I can't find the firmware upgrade.

My current firmware for my card and UPS are: UPS 02.0 / COM 01.1 / UBL 02.0 / CBL 04.F (ID14)

I find no reference to "ID14" in any file archives any longer. Searching for "ID14" in the *txt files in the firmware directory  (2) shows no results. There is one other thread in this forum (3) that talks about ID14 but there are references to files that no longer exist or are not found.

Can anyone reference me to an ID14 firmware file that is the most current?  I can update via FTP if I could just get the file.

JT

Thanks for looking.  Maybe I'll just take it apart and install a quieter fan.

Hi John,

This is a very old UPS and we have not supported firmware upgrades on it for quite some time. If I can get the model and serial number from you I can see if I can track down a copy of the old updated for you. Keep in mind that these units are designed for use in computer rooms and datacenters, so even with the later firmware you may find the volume annoying in a quiet office.

Thansk,

Liam

Thanks.  While they're old, they still work, so I have a few around. Just adding new batteries is all that's needed for it to still do the right thing. UPS systems can be quite old and still are effective, and I dislike throwing things out.  Thanks for looking for me!

The model data is in the SmartSlot "About" set:

Model: Smart-UPS 1000
Serial Number: AS0949231723
Firmware Revision: UPS 02.0 / COM 01.1 / UBL 02.0 / CBL 04.F (ID14)
Manufacture Date: 12/06/2009

Apparent Power Rating: 1000 VA
Real Power Rating: 670 W

Hello Liam -

Any luck blowing the dust off old CDs or archives of files for the ID14 version of the Smart-UPS 1000 (SMT1000)?

Hi John -

My apologies - I missed your update. Unfortunately the earliest units with upgradeable firmware are serial numbers AS1037 or later. The very early production units  (late 2009 to mid 2010) did not support firmware upgrades.

Sorry for the inconvenience,

Liam
