Hello,
I have the Smart-UPS 1000 and I placed an external hard disk drive right on the top of it. Is there a problem with this setup? I know that UPSs have huge transformers inside and I wonder if the electromagnetic field can cause any data corruption on my hard drive.
Thank you for any answer,
Andrew

i know we normally would say keep it at least 3 feet away from like a CRT monitor or TV..i don't know about a hard drive specifically to be honest but i feel like people have mounted servers above and below a rackmounted UPS.
i guess im not helpful π

I think you should consider the heat that both devices make and the vibration that the UPS generates when it's on battery. I guess the best way to go about it is try it out and the moment that you encounter any problems, put the hard drive somewhere better. Just saying.

It is only a backup drive and not used for critical applications, so I can try your suggestion I think.
Thank you,
Andrew
