Hello,
We have a smart 3000 XL UPS, which has the replace battery red light lit. Should the battery charge still show 100%?
I have a spare 3000XL, is it ok to take the battery out of this and replace the faulty battery?
Is this hot-swappable?
Many thanks

The Replace battery indicator is lit whenever the automatic diagnostic test has determined the battery is near the end of its useful life. It is a warning that the battery needs to be replaced within 4 weeks. It does not necessarily mean that the battery is dead. The typical life span of the battery is 3-6 years depending on use and environment (temperature). Before replacing the battery, please make sure that UPS having some battery charge in it. Then perform a Self test on it through Power Chute Software (if installed) or through manually.
If the UPS passes the Self-Test, the green On Line indicator will be lit and solid. If it fails the test, the red Replace Battery indicator will be lit as well as the green On Line LED.
If the replace battery light flashing, do the following:

Yes, if the replace battery LED is solid red, you need a new battery, even if the charge is 100%. The charge does not indicate a good or bad battery. You could run another self-test to be sure if you'd like, but if the batteries are older (3-5 years for example), it's probably a straightforward issue.
Yes, the batteries are hot swappable, so you can remove & install batteries without affecting the load.
