Hi,
Just a quick sinmple question!
What are the issues with running dual fed servers from PDUs, one fed from one phase and the other fed from a second phase?
Thanks in advance.
Giles

Also, remember to be sure to take into account what happens if you experience a failure on one phase. Consider both the case where you have a PSU fail (slamming the server's power requirements onto one of the other phases), and if you want to be comprehensive, what happens if you actually lose a phase (there, mostly you're concerned with trying to "spread the load evenly.")

Hello,
What type of server do you have? Are the power supplies intended for redundancy or does the server require both to operate correctly? What type of PDU's do you plan on using? Sorry for the additional questions but I just want to make sure you get the correct answer.

I think the only issue you'd have in running different PSUs from different phases would be load balancing.
Would it be safe to assume you are using a 3-phase power strip in a rack that lets you plug into any three phases? Are you using 110v or 208v for the servers? If 208, then keep in mind you are using two of the three phases.
I think in terms of manageability, i'd keep them on the same phases....but ultimately it wouldn't raise any immediate large issues. Keep your eye on your phase loads at your main feed to the data center and load accordingly.
