Serial Port Configuration on APC1500
Does anyone know what the output signal is (signal type, voltage, pin assignment) on the serial port of a Smart UPS model DLA1500 upon loss of primary power? APC reports it is a DC signal of some sort but couldn't tell me much more. Testing on the communication cable that came with it (which doesn't work for my application) shows pins 1, 2, and 9 at the UPS end connected, respectively, to pins 3, 4, and 1 (ands all other pins not connected). I suppose I could just build a little test cable and do some experimentation but that's a lot of work and I'm hoping someone could just tell me then I can fabricate a cable to take the signal from the UPS serial port and input it into my device's serial port.
Also, I believe the serial cable you have is for smart signaling, however you seem to be interested in the simple signaling capabilities which use different pins on the UPS serial port. The knowledge-base article above has the details.
