SURTD5000XL completely Dead
Hi All,
Our UPS is completely dead after a power cut, no lights nothing!
We have checked the battery voltages and one canister is around 36v and the other is 15v, we are thinking this maybe the cause, but it seems a little odd that no indicators are shown at all on the front panel.
I would ask if anyone has come across this before as I am unsure whether to outlay for a new set or if the fault is elsewhere.

Hi,
Yes, you need good battery voltage for this UPS to start/turn on. Battery voltage less than 80VDC is no good for this model. Do you know how old the batteries are? Or how long the UPS was off after the power outage?
Because of the voltages you mentioned, it will be difficult to confirm for sure what is wrong with the UPS if it does not have good batteries in an attempt to start. I'd recommend you get a good set of batteries to start and go from there.
Also, if you have a UPS Network Management Card in this UPS, you could potentially take it from this UPS and put it in a UPS of the same type to see what it says (if you have that option). I put this knowledge base article together to explain what gets saved/lost if you move a Network Management Card between UPSs or UPS types (http://www.apc.com/support/index?page=content&country=ITB〈=en&locale=en_US&id=FA228791)
