I have an older symmetra 16k (model symstr-pdblk) with an xr frame (model syxr12-bm) that is giving me a generic "An extended run frame fault exists". on the xr frame itself, it will flash an "E1" during the split-seconds it's failing. unfortunately, I cannot find out what this error code means. the units are from december 2002, and, other than replacing batteries and (I think) a power module, the parts are all still original. The message is sent to me via a NMC 9617.
if anyone can help me figure out what the error code means, I would appreciate it!

Thanks for the response; unfortunately, the fault came back almost immediately. I've purchased a new card, but I can't find out if I can hot-swap the cards, or if I need to power down the xr frame to make the replacement.
EDIT: nevermind; called tech support and, yea! hot-swappable! I now have a happy xr frame again!

so, after reducing my search terms to a more generic "symmetra e1" () I found the following FAQ on APC's site, FA157590, which suggests that it is the xr frame's communication card that is throwing the error and the solution is to "try and reseat the card". if this is really what is going on, can I reseat the card without having to remove power to the xr frame?
thanks

bleh...more searching results in this FAQ: FA157406...
it suggests that, to reseat the comm card, all I have to do is loosen the thumbscrew until the microlatch disengages...seems a bit simplistic and doesn't seem to go all the way of actually reseating the entire card...
am I wrong, or is this all this involved in reseating the comm card on the xr frame?!?
