SURT6000 XLT
Been quite a while since on this Forum - a good thing! However, my SURT6000XLT was recently brought out of storage for a new service and would not boot up. The fault light flashed in sync with a chirp about 1 second apart continuously, both on battery and power. Did all the cold start and brain dead starts to no avail. As it turns out, one of the 12 volt batteries in one of the cages was totally dead. Upon replacement, it now seems to work fine - with all the "serial port" tests OK. Have not recalibrated the battery charge system, but don't really want to until a new set of batteries are installed. Just wondering if the original problem (with the fault light and chirp continuously cycling) indicated any future problems that I might have with this unit. It is about 10 years old, but looks like new and has not been in service much at all! I know it will need all new batteries to be put into service - and will do that when I get the money! Meanwhile, I can install the network card and do more complete diagnostics - would that be necessary?
