Hello,
I have just one SURT3000Xli APC 3000 RT devices left in my Datacentre but its working ok and i have bought a management card so i can get it onto the network for logs. I got the correct card for it namely the AP9618 but i notice there is no serial cable on the card or on the back of the UPS.
So has anyone else ever had to configure the network card for this device.
Do i need to down the UPS, put the AP9618 card in reboot, then try to navigate to the card via an IP address on the same subnet or something?
Thanks in advance
Kevin

AP9618 will work but it is no longer really developed on as a platform. If you don't need the out of band management specifically, I'd say do the AP9631 if you can. We are actively updating that and adding new features to it.
So, both will work for the basics (managing the UPS, unauthenticated email, event and data logs) but if you want all the bells and whistles and new features (firewall, multiple user log in, SSL/TLS email authentication, etc), I'd go for the AP9631. AP9630 is also an option, same as AP9631 but no accessory ports or environmental monitoring.

Hi Kevin,
So the exact model of the UPS from the white sticker on the rear is SURT3000XLI (and not SURTD3000XLI)? Please confirm.
I ask because SURT3000XLI will have a DB-9 style serial port on the rear and you'll find an RJ-45 style serial port on SURTD3000XLI. The SURT3000XLI will use a DB-9 to DB-9 serial cable part # 940-0024 or 940-1524. The SURTD3000XLI will use a RJ-45 to DB-9 cable, part # 940-0625 or 940-1525. You'll install the Network Management Card to the UPS and connect the serial cable to the UPS and your computer.
You can "hot swap" in the AP9618. It will come pre-set for DHCP/BOOTP and other set up options are in the knowledge base (refer to NMC1 instructions): How do you make a Network Management Card communicate on a network? | FAQs | Schneider Electric US

Angela,
Its a SURTD3000XLI with an RJ-45 style serial port. Luckily i found one on Ebay today and was able to order it for £8 (part # 940-0625)
Do you think the AP9618 card will be ok. I am going to do the install on Saturday but i havent opened it yet. I could return it for the AP9631 which is recommended on the APC site for the SURTD3000XLI. But i already had ordered the AP9618
thanks
Kevin

Angela,
I think the AP9618 will do ok for now then. I really only need to manage the UPS, and set it up for logs. I'll probably upgrade it sometime in the next year anyway and can look at the better options then. I also have two of each APC10000 and APC 5000 UPS's but found getting them set alot easier as they had a built in mgt card and i had the proper serial cable RS-232 cable (940-0024C) to connect with.
thanks for your help.
Kevin
