How to configure automatic shutdown of to Smart UPS 2200 connected server
Hello all,
Can anyone please explain how and what should be configured to automatically shutdown a server that is connected to a Smart UPS 2200 (with APC network Interface Card 2 build in) ?
Has additional software has to be installed on the server for this to work?
Also, for this to work is it necessary to connect the UPS not only to the network but also direct to the attached server with the serial/usb cable?

I am assuming you have a UPS Network Management Card 2 (and not APC Network Interface 2)?
Your options for graceful shutdown are:
A Network Management Card with a UPS and install PowerChute Network Shutdown. This allows for graceful shutdown of multiple servers/devices from one UPS.
OR
A serial OR USB connection direct to one device. This is a 1 UPS to 1 client ratio.
If you have a Network Management Card already, you can just utilize that. Then you won't have the cable limitation. And you cannot do both methods at a time.
Essentially, if you install PowerChute successfully and don't do any other configuration (which there are shutdown options you can do), the client will shutdown when the UPS is almost out of battery power.
