As you explain I think the differences are only on the comunication interface. Viewed as an AC power supply I understand is the same product.
More exactly I have a customer who has SURT UPSs witch are installed with Network Management Cards.
Now he has to change one UPS and, naturally, the model available will be SURTD. If he puts the Network Management Card of the old SURT inside the slot of the SURTD all runs perfectly or not?

Hello Dario,

Here are Some key features of an SURTD:
1. It now utilizes Microlink which allows great variety of new softwar enhancement that were not possible using the UPSLink Protocol(used in SURTs)

2.SURTD are compatible with PowerChute Server when using USB and Serial cable.

3. You may also install [Network Management Card|http://www.apc.com/template/size/apc/sizing_display_options.cfm?option_type=Management&ups_sku=SURT1...] on SURTDs and using PCNS to shutdown the devices connected to it.

4.The interface port used on this UPS is RJ45 to DB9 Serial cable rather than the traditional 940-0024 9pin to 9pin cable.

I hope this helps! Thank you for using APC Forum.

Hi Dario,

Yes. That should work with an SURTD unit. You may also check this link for additional information. Part numbers of Network Management Cards compatible with the unit is also stated there.
