Hi!
Hope someone can help me out here; I just got a Smart UPS 3000 (SUA3000I) that appears to work fine but I can not get past the log in prompt when connecting to the UPS via the serial port. So now I wonder if there is any way to reset the admin user/password on this UPS.
When I connect via the serial port and press enter a few times I get a "User Name :" prompt. If I enter a user name here (e.g. apc) and press enter the UPS requests a password "Password :". I have tried all the standard user/password combinations suggested in different places all over Internet but no success so far... so please help me!
Thanks in advance!

Hi,
What you are describing indicate you are attempting to log into the network card through the serial port. Please follow the instruction in Kbase FA156075 for help resetting the network card password.

Also three consecutive failed log in attempts result in the following error message from the UPS:
"Access to the Control Console will be denied for 2 minutes."

Thanks! This solved my problem.
Basically my mistake assuming the network card would not affect the serial port interface mounted on the USB. Following the procedure in the linked FAQ article cleared the user/password allowing me to log in on the serial interface.
