I am not sure how I can help. You'll want to look into downloading a graphical UI MIB browser like GetIf or iReasoning but this likely will make more sense if you do some research on what a MIB is and the structure of it first so you know how to browse it. I am not sure if you researched that yet? It is called a MIB tree and the structure reflects that. There are different branches containing different products, components, and values at the deepest level. You kind of need to understand that stuff before you start browsing the MIB tree so you know what you're looking for.

Hi Marco,
You'll probably want to research SNMP and how it works a little bit. This will also maybe let you know about the two versions that exist and which is right for you.
Do you know what model of network card your UPS has by the way? That may impact which version of SNMP it provides.
The UPS will accept commands like shutdown and reboot over SNMP using an OID we provide within the APC PowerNet MIB. This MIB needs to be loaded within an SNMP Network Management Station that you'll have to load on your Linux system (maybe take a look at something like Nagios).
You can download the SNMP MIB you'll need from here -> http://www.apc.com/tools/download/index.cfm Look for Firmware Upgrades - MIB and download the PowerNet MIB (and not netbotz MIB). Once you download that, then you'll want to Browse the MIB and look for the UPS control OIDs.
I hope this helps get you started. Once you get rolling, there are OIDs you'll find to control the UPS. It will make more sense that you get started with these instructions before getting that far though as to providing you the OIDs. You'll need to understand research how to read a MIB.

You may want to install apcupsd on those linux machines. When registered with the NMC, the machines will get a signal to shut down when a power outage occurs.
