I have 10 Smart-UPS 1500 RM's in a building where the supply voltage has risen to 126.7 VAC due to recently decreased load in the building. AVR trim is being engaged for long durations on these UPS's. Batteries are also failing at an alarming rate. Can this also damage the UPS's as well? I'm looking for a persuasive argument to get the facilities management to address the power situation. Thanks in advance for your constructive comments.

Welcome to APC forum Scott.
I agree to what Techie had said, it is advisable for you to contact the company or department that handles the power that is being fed to the UPS. If the UPS has been exposed to a very high or very low voltage, the AVR mechanism of the UPS and it's electronic components might fail in the long run. There is also a feature on our UPS wherein customers can adjust the low and high transfer points, just make sure that the device plugged into the UPS can handle that voltage.

As far as I know, the AVR trim function will not damage the UPS. The UPS will not use battery power when it is in AVR mode. However, I would contact the Power Company to correct the Over Voltage issue if it lasts for extended period. You may show the UPS data logs to report the Over voltage readings to the facilities management for their review.
