Looking for suggestions on where to source the external battery terminator plug for a su1400rmxlnet. Another thread suggests the part number is 870-7017. Terminator pictured in the unit below. Two calls to APC support assure me I don't need one, but unit will not power up despite verifying power on at the outlet and good charge (>25v each) on the internal batteries. Thnx much.

Try calling APC support again. As you discovered, it is necessary. Some years ago, transportation policy changed to require batteries to be physically disconnected when shipping them, whereas previously a "logical" disconnect (which APC refered to as "deading the UPS") was sufficient. Some models use a plug and socket on the batteries inside the UPS while others have an external jumper such as the one in your picture.
Normally the external ones are on a "leash" of either string or plastic so they don't get lost.
If APC really can't provide you one, the raw connector and pins are made by [Anderson Power Products|http://www.andersonpower.com/products/multipole-sb.html]. However, if you decide to make one yourself, be VERY careful as the full battery current needs to flow through that connector. Needless to say, this will almost certainly void any remaining warranty.

I think that critter is for the 3u units. Mine is a 5u. Haven't seen a picture outside of the one I posted. The two APC support folks I spoke to didn't have have either part number in their knowledge base. If any APC folk are monitoring, would appreciate suggestions.
