Hi, I would like to know if it is possible to control UPS static bypass from serial port.
I need this feature in order to command UPS into bypass mode so I can later do a manual bypass without dropping the load.
Is this possible? Do I need a special software like Powerchute or I can send a secuence of characters in order to put UPS in bypass through serial console?
Thanks!

i checked a brochure on this UPS as well as the user's guide and it appears these units only support automatic bypass incase of UPS internal fault or an overload condition. this means you cannot command the UPS into bypass unfortunately..
user's guide i found: http://www.apcmedia.com/salestools/SCON-7JHL2T_R1_EN.pdf

Thanks,I've found the same thing. But still I think it should be possible to command a bypass from serial interface. Afterall is a one bit signal.

well i am not sure on that. my understanding is that the UPS will not accept an external comment to go in and out of bypass.
