We have a client that has 2x SURT10k on site. Now the units have been there for quite some time and they have always had the age old "UPS: A battery charger fault exists." problem now I've told the client its nothing to worry about but we had another client who's SURT died with an inverter fault which has once again sparked fear in my self for the other sites we have with SURTs.
Here are some of the messages we have taken from the logs and you'll see that for some reason the fault comes up almost every time after the unit has done a self-test and to add to that it happens almost every time 6 min after the self-test was done.
08/22/2012 14:02:09 UPS: A battery charger fault no longer exists.
08/22/2012 14:01:33 UPS: Refused a self-test; UPS is overloaded.
08/22/2012 14:01:22 UPS: A battery charger fault exists.
08/22/2012 13:54:33 UPS: Passed a self-test.
08/22/2012 13:54:18 UPS: Started a self-test.
08/08/2012 14:02:18 UPS: A battery charger fault no longer exists.
08/08/2012 14:01:37 UPS: Refused a self-test; UPS is overloaded.
08/08/2012 14:01:34 UPS: A battery charger fault exists.
08/08/2012 13:54:50 UPS: Passed a self-test.
08/08/2012 13:54:35 UPS: Started a self-test.
07/25/2012 14:01:52 UPS: A battery charger fault no longer exists.
07/25/2012 14:01:30 UPS: Refused a self-test; UPS is overloaded.
07/25/2012 14:01:23 UPS: A battery charger fault exists.
07/25/2012 13:55:02 UPS: Passed a self-test.
07/25/2012 13:54:47 UPS: Started a self-test.
Has there been any revelation as to what is causing this error cause I also read in one of the old manuals that the message is only a Warning message and not classified as Server. So is there anything I say to the client to give them and my self peace of mind regarding the error messages?

we encounter similar issue as yours, we check the battery and we found out 1 of the battery was dead, we purchase new set of battery module and after that everything back to normal, No battery fault/error/replacement LED lit up or even in the log event.
