SMT 1500

Good morning,
We are 3 IT companies and we often sell this product:
APC Back-UPS BX
We work perfectly with this product.
Now we need superior products.
So we bought this:
APC Smart-UPS - Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) 750VA Model Tower - SMT750I
and here the problems have arrived for our technicians.
Let's start with the first big problem:
Email notification. We set this configuration
(see Attachment)
if the line goes away to the customer we absolutely do not receive anything ...
we do not even see the panel to send a test email to test the settings
We await yours

Hi,

It is a circuit breaker. It works the same as a circuit breaker in a home. If there is an overload situation or a short the circuit breaker will open to protect the UPS from damage.

Hi,

If you want to send e-mail from PowerChute Business Edition to smtp.gmail.com you will first need to upgrade PowerChute to version 9.5. See Schneider Electric FAQ FA249593

The port for smtp.gmail.com is 465 Use SSL

We do not offer a test button at this time. It will be added as a feature in a future release. For now to test e-mail you can configure the software to send e-mail when a self-test is run. The through PowerChute trigger a self-test. To trigger a self-test go to Smart-UPS 750 - Diagnostics

You will find information on e-mails sent in the pcbe.log file. The default path to the log for Windows is C:\Program Files (x86)\APC\PowerChute Business Edition\agent\log

does your message mean that it is correctly configured to send emails right?

email has arrived .... but only when I unplugged the usb cable

Let's move on to the second question

We must understand perfectly the logics of shutdown of the APC, because we will install them on industrial servers.

We need the APC to shut down the server it is connected to (Windows Server 2016) 3 minutes before it runs out.

Do you confirm the screenshot?

Another thing ... is it possible to test the auto switch-off procedure?

Thank you

Hi,

I The screenshot show that the OS needs 3 minutes to power down. I recommend increasing the runtime limit to 5 minutes to allow a 2 minute buffer. Also you should add a minimum battery return requirement. The requirement should be determined by the amount of time the system needs to boot and to power down.

9XxlLwrxxz2eWu2SppZnGw%3D%3D.png9XxlLwrxxz2eWu2SppZnGw%3D%3D.png

In the above example I add a 7 minute delay. I based this on the system needing 2 minutes to boot, 3 minutes to power down and added a 2 minute buffer. The reasoning to allow the system to safely boot up and power down in the event there is a power outage prior to the UPS fully charging.

kind user
thank you for the time you are dedicating to us
we will listen to your advice
Now we have configured the APC and the server (attachment) (do not pay attention to the red writing)
is correct configuration?
thank you

the setting for restarting the server is fundamental

now we have stopped the other purchases and we are buying only APC

APC Back-UPS BX does not have this feature true?

Hi,

The screenshots show that PowerChute will start the shutdown process when the UPS has 5 minute remaining of runtime. The UPS will what 3 minutes and then cut power to the outlets. When AC is restored the UPS will remain off until there is 7 minutes of available runtime and then the outlets will power up.
