SMT 1000 FIrmware Update
Hi folks,
I've come by a used SMT1000 with a born on date of 6/20/2011 and a firmware revision level of 5.0 (ID17). I have an NMC2 installed.
I am confused in reading whether or not the UPS supports firmware update via the NMC or whether or not I have to go through the hassle of the USB port (my laptops don't current have comm ports as such).
Can someone help clarify how, or even if, this UPS can be brought up to the current ID17 level of 7.1?
Thank you!

Hi Joe,
You can upgrade this UPS using either UPS or the NMC. Instructions on how to do a firmware upgrade using the NMC can be found at this link: http://www.schneider-electric.us/en/faqs/FA164737/.
Regards,
Nicole

Hi Nicole and thanks for the confirmation. Now all I have to do is remember that the UPS is connected to the network via a router powered by the same UPS.......

Hi Joe,
Yes that is a problem. Either way, you have to power down the UPS so I would suggest doing the upgrade via USB since it has proven to be more reliable. Good luck!

I was able to go from 5.0 (ID17) to 7.1 (ID17) successfully.
The only glitch I see is with respect to the "Next Battery Replacement Date". With the "Last Battery Replacement" set to July 2017, the "Next Battery......." estimate is 9/9/2036 I think that may be just a "little" overconfident......
Thanks for the help!
Joe
